Steel Orchid

Welded steel sculpture- designed, cut, and assembled by hand. When I made this sculpture, I didn’t have much intention behind it beyond making something interesting, but reflecting back I think it is one of the most important things I have made. The balance between hard cold man-made metal and delicate organic flower makes this piece occupy a space in-between, that is especially compelling, and is a theme I have now found myself deliberately continuing to explore.
